I am appalled that my just turned 14 dancer was told she must shave her pubic area for recitals. Her fellow dancers who range in age 11-14 were also told to do this. Some of these children haven’t even begun menstruation. I find this to be an absurd overstepping of boundaries by the dance teacher. I feel it is up to the parent and child as to decide when and if this is ever appropriate. There are ways around this with tights and just possibly shaving anything that is visible on the upper leg area. Please advise!!
