Restlessness in “the city that never sleeps” is what makes New York the creative center and dance capital of the world. New York is where Stephen Mills got his start, and for his Masters of Dance, Mills is excited to offer works by two of the most in-demand dance makers in the world.
New York City Ballet Soloist and Resident Choreographer Justin Peck makes his Central Texas debut. Peck, the focus of the recent documentary Ballet 422, presents his work “In Creases,” set to the hypnotic piano music of Philip Glass, which will be played live on stage.
Additionally, Pam Tanowitz, who’s won multiple versions of the dance industry’s “Oscar,” the Bessie Award, and who is also a Guggenheim Foundation Fellow, will unveil a thrilling and challenging world premiere dance work, “Shade.”
Mills rounds out the evening with his own “Kai” created to the rhythmically exotic music of John Cage.
