Music is a crucial element in performing art. It sets the tone, fleshes out characters, advances the storyline, and contributes all kinds of drama! In Artistic Director / Choreographer Stephen Mills’ new full-length ballet, GRIMM TALES, music adds another dimension to the two-dimensional world artist Natalie Frank created through her colorfully visceral drawings of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, three of which make up this multi-sensory dance production: The Frog Prince, Snow White, and The Juniper Tree. Hear from Austin-based movie composer and musical wunderkind, Graham Reynolds, who translated the visual intensity of Frank’s artwork into the gripping score for Grimm Tales.
