In the fall of 2018, PNB launched a year-round student choreography course, just for young women called “New Voices: Choreography and Process for Young Women in Dance”. Ballet choreography is a field predominated by men and PNB wants to encourage more young women to take an early interest in the choreographic process.
Level VII students met once week with PNB Faculty member Eva Stone, exploring key choreographic concepts leading to both solo and group choreography projects. Students presented movement studies in class in order to give and receive constructive feedback.
“It’s wonderful to look back to September and reflect on how far these young women have come. Through this experience, they have learned to create work that is purposeful and insightful”
– Eva Stone
