City Ballet of Iowa

We have lessons for children starting at age 5 in the Primary level, as well as a pre-professional course of study for students ages 8 and up that requires ballet classes and rehearsals three to six days per week depending on level placement. Dancers commit to the full class schedule for their assigned level and also participate in our annual performances and local engagements. Dancers interested in enrolling must have completed our Primary levels or be transferring in with previous training. We follow an exclusive, technically demanding and carefully organized classical ballet syllabus. Our vision is to perpetuate the discipline that embraces sound ballet principles and technique which incorporate elements of the French, Italian, and Russian schools of training through the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum. In a healthy and caring environment, students share the joy of learning the art of dance and flourish in the areas of confidence, memorization, coordination, self-motivation, and the artistic appreciation of dance.
