Pas de action, or pas d’action, is a classical ballet term meaning “dance action.” It describes a scene in a ballet where the story is being told through expressive movements, dance and/or mime. Almost every classical ballet has a pas d’action since they are all almost story ballets.
Examples of pas d’action include:
- Giselle, where Hilarion reveals the true identity of Albrecht to Giselle before she dances to her death
