How to say & pronounce Pas de valse:

pawh duh vawls

What does Pas de valse translate to?

waltz step

Pas de valse is a classical ballet term meaning “waltz step.”  It is usually done individually by female dancers, but is sometimes done with a partner.

A dancer doing a pas de valse will extend and step one leg as the other brushes front while decorating the step with classical looking port de bras.  A dancer may also do a pas de valse en tournant which would be turning half way around each waltz step.

Pas de valse is usually taught in an intermediate ballet class because it requires a dancer to have a degree of balance, coordination and comfort with plié and degages in center.
