Performing Opportunities
San Diego Danceworks offers performance opportunities throughout the year. Our fall performances include local school festivals such as the Lindbergh-Schweitzer Carnival and holiday performances at retirement homes in addition to a Nutcracker theater performance. Barbara RinaldoDirector
Barbara has taught ballet, modern dance and choreography for over thirty years. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet from the North Carolina School of the Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Michigan. She was Assistant Professor of Dance at Towson University in Maryland for six years where she also served as Chairman of the Dance Department. Barbara has received choreographic grants from the Michigan State Council for the Arts, Towson University, Meet the Composer
Teran Brown Instructor/ Competition Director
Teran Brown (known by her students as “Ms. Tea”) has been performing professionally for over 10 years. She has national and international credits working as a modern dance company member as well as in the commercial dance industry – performing in live concerts, TV shows, commercials, cruise lines, and international venues. Teran’s training consists of a strong technical base in a wide variety of dance genres that include Ballet, Hip-Hop, Modern, and Contemporary styles.
Lindsay BrzenskiInstructor
Lindsay Brzenski has been dancing since the age of nine. She teaches jazz, contemporary, ballet, ballroom, salsa, lyrical, and tap. A San Diego native, she has studied at various studios throughout the city. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego and received a bachelor’s degrees in both Theatre and Dance. Lindsay also works in the San Diego entertainment industry, specializing in lighting, audio and costuming.
Kanna Burch Instructor
Kanna earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Performing Arts Education from Tamagawa University in Tokyo in 2000. After graduating, she continued to train in Hip Hop, Funk styles, Tap, Jazz, Ballet, House, UK Jazz fusion a.k.a. Be-Bop and more in Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. She strives to make each student’s experience both a fun and meaningful one. And she is thrilled to share joy, diversity and the creativity of dance with her students at San Diego Danceworks.
Jessie GooseBusiness Manager/Instructor
Jessie Goose comes to San Diego Danceworks with a breadth of knowledge that spans the business world as well as the health and fitness industry. Jessie is the business manager at San Diego Danceworks applying her years of experience in sales, marketing, and accounting. Her exceptional organizational skills and communication skills are providing customers with excellent service. Jessie is a certified personal trainer with over five hundred hours of practical training.
Becky Hurt Instructor
Becky (Bex) Hurt started dancing when she was 5 years old. She danced her way through school at San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts and graduated with honors in 1997. She went on to minor in dance at San Diego State University while she continued training and performing. She hopes to further grow as a choreographer while creating a group of expressive hip hop dancers at San Diego Danceworks.
Erin JelacicInstructor
Erin Jelacic received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from DeSales University. After graduating in 2006, she interned and trained in New York City with Tiffany Mills Dance Company; while also working as Production Assistant for Tamar Rogoff’s P.S 122 show “Edith and Jenny”, featuring dancer Arial Flavin and actress Claire Danes. Erin’s aspiration has always been to create her own dance company. In 2010, she and dance partner, Drew Ornelas, began the groundwork for their own performance group, DHDP
Brianna SniderInstructor
Brianna Snider has been involved in dance and gymnastics since the age of 5. She has continuously trained from the Northeastern coast of Rhode Island to the Pacific coast of Oahu, Hawaii and for the past four years in San Diego. Brianna’s philosophy is to engage her students by challenging them in a safe environment that is not only fun, but builds student’s self esteem. Her teaching environment allows them to utilize their creativity unhindered through the use of their body and music.
Sarah VallerInstructor
Before moving to San Diego, I danced with Gehring Dance Theater in NYC and I directed the Ballet Department at Northern Valley Dance Academy. I also taught at Inspira Performing Arts, Signature fitness and taught ballet and hip hop at New York Sports Clubs where I was also a personal trainer. I am currently a dancer, teacher, and choreographer with Dark Horse Dance Productions. I am a personal trainer and Group Exercise Instructor at the Peninsula YMCA.
