Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev are incredible in this ballet video of the pas de deux from Flames of Paris. This was part of a new production choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky and filmed at the Bolshoi Theatre in March of 2010.
What’s amazing about this video is the raw strength demonstrated by both Osipova and Vasiliev. Their first entrance takes up the whole stage and you can see the passion from their first jeté that soars in the air. As with most Flames of Paris pas de deuxes, the actual duet is very short, leaving much of the virtuosity to the variations.
Ivan Vasiliev’s jump is simply enormous, finishing his variation with amazing double revoltades that open to the front! Osipova makes easy work out of her quick variation with light heartedness. In the coda, Vasiliev starts strong finishing his diagonal of double toures with two doubles and a triple. Osipova does an amazing combination of fouette turns: Two double fouettes into a ronde jambe in attitude jump, back into more fouettes, really a must see!
The strength and power of this dynamic partnership put this Flames of Paris pas de deux ballet video in the top of the top.
