OBT 25

a Performance in Portland, Oregon

WHEN

OBT kicks off its celebration of 25 years of thrilling dance with a program dedicated to both our rich history and our exciting future. Returning to the repertory for the first time in over a decade is George Balanchine’s masterwork, AGON, a pivotal work in the development of modernism in the 20th century and one of the most thrilling athletic contests you will ever see. The program includes excerpts from the three choreographers that most shaped OBT over these past 25 years: Christopher Stowell, Artistic Director from 2003–2012, Trey McIntyre, Resident Choreographer from 1997–1999, and Founding Artistic Director James Canfield – whose work returns to Portland for the first time since 2003. Topping off this embarrassment of riches, Portland favorite Nicolo Fonte will create a new work for the entire company, accompanied live by one of Portland’s favorite ensembles.
