I’ve been dancing since I was 5 years old. I’ve tried a lot of style like jazz, hip-hop, tap, contemporary… During these classes, I learned ballet technique (plié, tendu, relevé, attitude…) but I just started this year having real ballet classes. I am 18 years old and I have one class of 90 minutes per week and I am doing 30 minutes of barre workout 3 times a week at home (I have a small barre at home). When will I be able to get on pointe? I have more than 10 years of dance technique, my ankles are strong and I am really determined to get on pointe!

Are you teaching yourself? I’m 17 and I went on a 9 year hiatus from ballet but I work very hard (3 times a week at 1h45m practices in class, at home I work more). I worked for a month like this before going on pointe last Wednesday. I think you can do it, especially if you never stopped. Be careful if you’re teaching yourself though you can hurt yourself. My teacher told me not to do pointework without her supervision at least for now
