    Hi everybody!
I’m 13 years old and I’ve been dancing for nearly 10 years, I am on pointe, doing grade 6 ballet and Interfoundation this year. I was wondering what age can I start teaching a class? I am helping out with 6-7 year olds this year, and my teacher says that when you pass Interfount you can teach, but that seems a bit weird, any thoughts?

I would say that probably depends on the age of girls you would be teaching. If you would be teaching six-to-seven year olds, that is likely alright, although some parents might be uncomfortable with it. I think, though, it might be a bit weird teaching children nine and up, especially if you use RAD placement. Consulting with at least two different teachers would be helpful. If you don’t fell comfortable teaching at this age, don’t. Wait a year or two (or five😉). It’s okay.
    Hope this helps. Best wishes,
    A Fellow Dancer

If you are good enough you can start at any age. There are some famous dance teachers like Abby Lee Miller, which started teaching really young. Some graduate first and go to Universitys then. You have to decide if you feel able to do this. Teaching is a lot, a lot responsibility lying on you and you have to feel, if you are ready for it.
