I am a dance student, trained mostly in jazz, tap, some modern and very little ballet. I would love to dance for a contemporary company and feel that my contemporary dance training and talent make it a very real possibility. I am just wondering if my very little ballet training would hurt my chances at all??

Hey frenchtwist! It really depends on what kind of company you’re looking for. Some contemporary companies do look for ballet training and pointe work while other don’t require it as much. If I was you I would just do some research and look for companies that interest you. I’m sure they mention it on their website how much ballet training is needed.

    Good luck with your search!

Yeah I plan on looking up the companies that interest me. I have only 2 years of pointe in my pocket and that was a few years ago. I’m sure if I put on a pair at an audition I would be VERY rusty!
