Hi, I have an interesting topic that I would like some advice on. I am not a dance student, although I do know some dance basics because I am in marching band and it required for us to learn them. On top of that I have always admired ballet and I have taken up a cosplay project (I’m also a cosplayer) that involves ballet. For my cosplay the costume I am making (princess tutu I know sound dumb bare with me) wears pointe shoes. I’ve read scary stuff about cosplayers wearing pointe shoes and getting hurt so I want to put out there, I DO NOT plan on going on pointe I repeat DO NOT plan on going on pointe. I know that it is dangerous for me and I need my ankles in order to be successful in marching band. So I ask for advice on what I should do. I want to buy a pair of pointe shoes and deshank them, but I know nothing about pointe shoes. Is this OK for me to do? I don’t want to settle of slippers unless I have to because it doesn’t look right that way. I was also looking into soft blocks as well for this purpose. I know you shouldn’t buy shoes online but since I only plan on walking around in them I don’t think I need the fitting to be perfect so I can get something close. I normally wear street size 7.5 womens, I have normal feet (not wide or narrow) my toes are kind of stuby though and I’m not very archy. Any advice on what type of shoes I should get , I was looking at old shoes on eBay, maybe dead ones to make them easier to walk in. Please reply, and I’ll say it once more I DO NOT WILL NOT AND UNDER NO SUCUMSTANCES plan to go on pointe. Thanks
