My son has been taking ballet now for a couple years now but is still only 11. He goes to a small local school and is only one of two boys. His teacher just mentioned how they’ll be starting partnering classes soon, but these boys seem too young to partner the older girls! Is 9 years old an average age to start partnering? I’m worried he might hurt himself.

That does seem young, but as long as he is partnering girls his size, it should probably be okay. if he has a good teacher, they’ll start very slow.

His teacher seems to know what she’s doing, I guess I should wait until we know what classes she is thinking of attending the classes.

that’s cute you’re worried about your son! :) I don’t think you should worry… when I started partnering at summer programs we had every guy there in the class, even the younger ones, and if the teacher has sense, she wont have him lifting the girls twice his height!
