The disney movies are disney movies and the ballets are ballets. the ballets are usually closer to the actual stories.

    hello @newballetfan,

Ballet is actually quite kid friendly!! don’t let a terrible movie like black swan keep you from going with your kids.

any of the big story ballets like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, and Swan Lake are all great. In fact, thats where my user name comes from, Swan lake that is.

there is occasional “violence” like sword fights in some ballets, but its never anything graphic and tastefully done. (not like black swan, ahem)

I love ballet because I think it pushes the boundaries of what the human body does. Think how many sports require you to run, so many of them! But ballet requires you to be in so many technical positions that it’s really unique that way!

It’s like any other “reality” TV show just with a ballet backdrop. I bet they have writers to cause more drama or follow certain stories and make them seem like a big deal

There wasn’t nearly enough actual dancing! you can almost barely call it a “ballet movie”. And what was that version of swan lake at the end? With a big ramp? If a ballet company ever actually revamped a classical ballet that much, i hope they’d at least call it something else. Can you imagine you buy tickets for “Swan Lake” and you see that version from the movie on stage?? No thanks :)
